David Engel , President, UIAFC

A native Montrealer, David moved to Toronto in 1983. Growing up, David’s parents instilled in him the importance of giving to the community. Following their example and his graduation from Hebrew day school, David began volunteering for the Jewish community when he was a teenager, and continued his work within the Montreal Jewish community.
After moving to Toronto, he became involved in the community through leadership development and has since served as member of the Toronto Federation executive and board. During his volunteer career he has been the Chair of the Walk for Israel, a member of the UIAFC Executive and Board, and Chair of the United Jewish Appeal (UJA) campaign in 2000, at the time recognized as the most successful campaign.
Most recently, David served as Chair of the UJA Federation board (2005- 2007), raising the level of awareness as the first community to support Israel during the war in the summer of 2006 and setting an example for the rest of KH and United Jewish Communities to follow. In addition, David’s contributory role afforded him great opportunities to enhance the community including the creation of The Joshua Institute, a three tier development course for all incoming agency chairs, new volunteers and professional staff.
David began his career working with his father and upon his father’s retirement, he founded Innovative Graphics Group, a direct marketing services company. As president and CEO, David has earned a reputation as an innovator within the industry.
As a well respected Marketer, David has made valuable connections throughout the direct marketing, advertising and print production industry. David has been an active member of the Canadian Marketing Association (CMA) for 12 years and serves as a member of the Board of Directors. He is the co-author of Direct Mail Pal, the definitive guide to the Canadian Direct Mail industry. He has received industry recognition by being awarded the CMA’s Director’s Choice Award for innovative contributions to the Canadian Marketing Industry, specifically education. David has also received the CMA RSVP award for Resource Partner’s Innovation and most recently was awarded the CMA’s ‘Honourary Lifetime Member.
David together with his wife Judy, is fortunate to have 4 children Tina, Adam, Paul and Daniel, all of whom live in Toronto.
