Vandalism Exhibition in Sderot

The “Street Culture” photo exhibit which is on display this week at the Netivim Center is the third exhibition organized by members of the photography workshop, since its establishment two years ago. The workshop aims to use photography as a means of raising social awareness and encouraging empowerment. The current exhibition is the culmination of a process which seeks to develop social responsibility and a sense of belonging to the community.

Alex Antayeb joined the Sderot Extreme Sports Center, became a counselor himself and is now a combat soldier in the paratroop brigade. Antayeb is an example of the amazing success of the center, which gives participants skills and shows how you can deal with whatever life throws at you without giving up.

The Young Communities movement is nurturing the spirit of volunteerism in Israel’s social and geographic periphery. Outstanding Activist Award for Medical Clown from Sderot

Chen Ochayon is the chairperson of the municipal youth council. Previously, she explained to youth from the center of the country about life in Sderot and was a member of the Association of Medical Clowns. Last week, in recognition of her extensive voluntary service, she was presented with the Outstanding Activist Award.

Young Leaders from the Negev Are Inspired in Canada

A delegation from the Young Leadership Group flew to Canada to take part in a conference on developing Jewish social activism. During their stay, the delegation also volunteered at a restaurant which provides free meals to the needy.
